Two dinghies sailing side by side in the evening light

Our story

The foundation takes its name from Robert Johnson and Charles McClurg, [placeholder: who they were and what they meant to sport in the town]. What sport gave to them, and what they gave back to the people around them, is the standard we hold ourselves to.

The foundation was established by [founder name] to carry that spirit forward: a charity dedicated to making sure every young person in Hartlepool has the chance to play, whatever their background or ability.

Today the foundation works alongside schools, clubs, and coaches across the town. The next chapter is The Staincliffe: a permanent home where the work can grow for generations to come.

Our mission

Every young person deserves the chance to play. We're breaking down the barriers that stand in the way, whatever a family's circumstances, background, or ability.

What we do

We fund and run grassroots sports sessions with local schools and clubs, provide kit and coaching, and are restoring The Staincliffe as a home for it all.

Safeguarding

Nothing matters more to us than the safety of the young people in our care. All our coaches and Trustees are DBS-checked, our sessions follow the safeguarding guidance of each sport's national governing body.

A copy of our safeguarding policy is available on request.

Trustees & team

The foundation is run by a small team of trustees and coaches who give their time to youth sport in Hartlepool.
